Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy

EMDR can help you process traumatic or distressing experiences that continue to affect how you feel, think, or respond in the present. I offer EMDR for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, distressing memories, and negative self-beliefs in a supportive, collaborative environment.

During EMDR, I will guide you to briefly focus on distressing memories, thoughts, or feelings while engaging in gentle bilateral stimulation, such as following eye movements or alternating taps. This process helps the brain reprocess experiences so they feel less emotionally overwhelming.

EMDR doesn’t erase memories or make you forget what happened. Instead, it can help reduce the emotional intensity connected to these past experiences and support new, healthier ways of understanding what happened.

How does EMDR Work?

During sessions, I’ll guide you through briefly connecting with a difficult memory while using gentle bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or alternating taps. You remain in control throughout the process, and we work at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

As the memory is reprocessed, it can become less emotionally intense and feel more like something that happened in the past rather than something you are still experiencing in the present.
