Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

What is Acceptance & Commitment Therapy?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on building a healthier relationship with your thoughts and emotions rather than trying to control, avoid, or eliminate difficult experiences. Together, we can explore what matters most to you, develop greater flexibility in how you respond to challenges, and learn to make space for difficult emotions without allowing them to dictate your choices.

The goal is to help you move toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned with your values, even when difficult thoughts or feelings are present.

Learning to accept what is, rather than fight it, is the first step to real change.

A person in a beige sweater is holding a white mug with dark liquid inside, sitting at a white table. There is a closed book with a dark cover and a red spine on the table. Another person is sitting across, wearing a black jacket, with their arm resting on the table near a window.

“What you resist, persists.

What you accept transforms.”

  • Being present - developing awareness of what’s happening right now

  • Self-as-context- developing a broader perspective on one’s experiences and sense of self
